However, the completion date of your most recent doctoral degree will be used to determine your eligibility, If you have further than one doctoral degree.

Exceptions to the doctoral degree completion eligibility period are granted only if you meet one or further of the following criteria
Still, exploration institutions and other laboratories won't be considered) after you enter your doctorate, NSERC will extend the eligibility period to three times. If you have acquired at least six months of full-time applicable employment in assiduity or government ( experience in an academic institution or its related hospitals.

 Proposed position (s) of term

You can hold your PDF at

 Canadian academic institutions
 Parochial Exploration Institutions in Canada
other applicable exploration laboratories in Canada
 exploration institutions abroad
You can not hold a PDF in Canadian civil government laboratories or in artificial laboratories across Canada.

NSERC encourages you to shoulder exploration that involves collaboration with other Canadian associations. The nature of the proposed collaboration must be respectable to the host institution.

 In addition

You may hold a PDF abroad only if you have entered your doctorate from a Canadian institution.
NSERC encourages PDF award holders to broaden their exploration experience by gaining exposure to different exploration surroundings. You aren't permitted to hold your fellowship at the same institution (or its related hospitals, exploration institutions, and other laboratories) where you entered your doctorate. Still, you may request an exception that will be considered by the selection commission.
The request must be grounded on medical reasons (for illustration, propinquity to needed health care installations), family reasons (for illustration, a partner’s career), or scientific reasons (for illustration, vacuity of technical outfit), which make it extremely delicate for you to leave a particular institution.
Indeed if your exception is granted, you aren't permitted to be supervised by your supervisor. You're encouraged to include an alternate position for your PDF if your request for an exception isn't approved.
You may not hold the PDF with your PhD administrator, indeed if your administrator changes exploration institutions.
Holding a PDF abroad may affect your occupancy status in Canada. You may wish to communicate with the applicable Canadian authorities or an applicable expert for advice.
 Operation procedures

You can apply for a PDF by completing and submitting form 201, and attaching supporting documents if necessary. Read the Instructions for completing an operation – form 201 for further information.

 Deadline

NSERC must admit your operation electronically before 800p.m. (ET) on October 17. Still, your operation must be submitted the following business day before 800 p, If the deadline falls on a weekend.m. (ET). Deficient operations will be rejected.

 Review procedures and selection criteria

NSERC literacy and fellowships selection panels review all PDF operations. The selection panels estimate each operation according to the selection criteria described in the Selection Commission companion for Postgraduate Literacy – Doctoral and Postdoctoral Fellowships programs.
Note that NSERC may promote equity and diversity by giving award precedence to meritorious operations from those who tone- identify as Indigenous and/ or as a woman if sufficient finances become available. The selection panels are organized according to the following broad discipline orders

 cellular and molecular biology
chemical, biomedical, and accouterments wisdom engineering
 chemistry
 civil and artificial engineering
 computing Dolores
 electrical engineering
 elaboration and ecology
 geosciences
 fine Dolores
 mechanical engineering
 drugs and astronomy
 factory and beast biology
 psychology
The exploration subject law ( see List of exploration subject canons for literacy and fellowships) entered into the operation will determine the selection commission in which the operation will be estimated. NSERC may assign the operation to a different commission if it determines that the subject matter is more applicable to another commission.

NSERC expects selection commission members to constantly guard against the possibility of unconscious bias impacting the decision-making process, whether these impulses are grounded on an academy of study, abecedarian versus usable exploration, certain sub-disciplines, areas of exploration or approaches ( including arising bones), size or character of an institution, age, gender and/ or other particular factors.

NSERC is acting on the substantiation that achieving a more indifferent, different, and inclusive Canadian exploration enterprise is essential to creating the excellent, innovative, and poignant exploration necessary to advance knowledge and understanding and to respond to original, public, and global challenges. This principle informs the commitments described in the Tri-agency statement on equity, diversity, and addition. For further information consult the document Equity, diversity, and addition considerations at each stage of the exploration process.

In preparing your operation, you should consult the Selection Criteria and Pointers section and excursus B of the Selection Commission companion for Postgraduate Literacy – Doctoral and Postdoctoral Fellowships programs, which provides useful information on what commission members look for in assessing operations. You should also read the Instructions for completing an operation – form 201.

Operations are estimated and named according to how well you demonstrate the following

your exploration capability and eventuality (70)
your communication, interpersonal, and leadership capacities (30)
 Announcement of results

NSERC will notify you of the results in February. NSERC won't give results by telephone.
